Opinions, please

I've been doing a little dyeing lately, though not near as much as I should have done by now. The Kentucky Sheep and Fiber Festival is fast approaching and I'm running out of time to get myself ready.

These skeins are a small sample of what I''m working on right now. So, here's where I need your help. The skeins are arranged in pairs that have been dyed exactly the same. The only difference is that one of each pair has been rewound so the colors are a little more subtle. Mike and I have been discussing which version is more visually appealing for a knitter to think about knitting with. He has his opinion and I have mine and I think we need some other folks to weigh in on this! What do you think?

  1. I would gravitate to the skeins on the right.

  2. The version on the right looks nice!

  3. First of all, they are all delicious. Secondly, while I would have guessed they were the same colorway, I am surprised that it is the way they've been wound that has made such a difference. I, too, think I would probably gravitate to those skeins on the right- maybe because the colors are all blending together. But! I also like the skeins on the left because it is easy to see the individual colors.Do you have to skein them all the same? Even though they are essentially all the same, perhaps showing them both will attract more knitters.

  4. I agree with Kim, because I think some will gravitate towards one and some towards another. I was surprised by preferring the right skeins in the top and bottom pair, but the left skein in the middle pair!

  5. I like both! As a knitter its nice to see what the individual colors are, but also so helpful to see what they are going to look like when they are knit up. I've been shocked to wind a skein and have it look completely different from the skein. I vote for both! I'm sure knitters will snatch up both, and be grateful for the visual! LOVE the colors.

  6. Hmmm, I know from personal experience that re-skeining is a lot more work, but with these particular colorways I think they look better re-skeined (the ones on the right). They are beautiful!

  7. I think that they are all lovely! I especially love the orangy-gray skeins; and I think I agree with the popular opinion of the right side... :)

  8. I'm with the right side too. I think because what you see there is more often how the colors seem to show up in my knitting-a more blended mix rather than the blocks of color.

  9. I vote right. It is amazing how different they look.

  10. Like several of the others, I think having some of both would be great. I think the ones on the right are more pleasing to the eye, but I like seeing more of the colors in the ones on the left. Some of both, definitely! :-)

  11. I would go with the skeins as dyed and not re skein them.

  12. In general, I like the skeins where the colors are mixed up because that's more true to what the yarn will knit up like. There are a few (very few) gorgeous colorways that I like to see in their as-dyed, segregated form. So, if the yarn is extremely gorgeous to you in that form, go with it.

  13. I also have to vote the ones on the right. But I can see both of them appealing to people.

  14. I like the skeins on the left...like to see individual colors. Pretty combos !

  15. I think that is a hard question to answer. Some yarns and colors look better reskeined and some look fine fresh out of the pot. I say use your better judgement when deciding;)
